About the Avangarde Series & Janam

The Avangarde Series is Battiloro’s bold, experimental line — created for players who want more than a “classic” handpan. Each Avangarde model features a soft membrane set inside a steel ring on the underside of the instrument, turning the handpan into a hybrid: part melodic sculpture, part rhythmic frame drum.

Janam (meaning “birth” in Sanskrit) is one of the deepest and most evocative voices in this series. Tuned in B2 Low Minor at 432Hz, it offers rich, dark low notes with a mysterious, cinematic feeling. The integrated membrane adds a second dimension of sound — you can weave rhythm and melody together, creating dynamic, evolving soundscapes for performance, sound baths, recording or personal exploration.
