About Leah
Leah Whiting is a musician, teacher, and certified sound healing practitioner offering online Flute/Ocarina sessions - gentle one-to-one experiences that combine flute/ocarina guidance, breath awareness, and mindful sound. Classically trained at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Leah brings together over three decades of experience in education, music, and therapeutic sound. Her heart-centred approach invites participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover music as a natural expression of life.
Drawing inspiration from the rich traditions of vessel flutes such as the ocarina, xun, and Native American-style flutes, Leah helps each player find their own tone - turning every breath into music.
Breath is the first song - the flute simply gives it voice.
The Inner Flute - Online 1:1 Sessions
The Inner Flute is a one-to-one online journey into the art of playing Native American-style and vessel flutes, including the ocarina and xun.
Each session weaves gentle flute instruction with breath-based wellness, creativity, and mindful awareness - helping you discover the flute as an extension of your breath and a companion in self-expression.
Rather than focusing on performance or technical perfection, these sessions invite you into a relationship with your instrument, cultivating tone through relaxation, presence, and curiosity.

How the Journey Unfolds
The Inner Flute sessions are gentle and supportive, blending simple technical guidance with meditative practice. You’ll learn flute fundamentals through the lens of wellbeing and somatic awareness - developing relaxed posture, steady tone, and confident breath. Each session moves at your own pace, beginning with grounding breathwork and intention, then exploring tone, articulation, note fingerings, scales, and simple improvisation. Over time, you’ll build a living relationship with your instrument as a teacher of presence - learning to let your breath guide the sound rather than effort or expectation. Through this process, the flute becomes more than an instrument; it becomes a companion in mindfulness, creativity, and self-discovery.
