Hluru 14" 9-Note Mini Handpan Maintenance Guide - Little Kalimba Shop

The Hluru mini handpan It's a very sturdy instrument, easy to clean and hardly rust.

Compared to the standard sized handpan, this mini one is super easy to take care of. There are only a few things to keep in mind.

  1. This drum uses a unique coating material that makes it nearly impossible to rust under everyday use. Please wipe the drum surface clean with a soft cloth after every play. If we play it by hand, without cleaning it afterwards, the oil from our skin will accumulate over time, which might damage the coating in the long term.

  2. Please always keep the 'ding' on top, never put any heavy object on top of the drum. The 'ding' is the most delicate part of this drum. Excessive pressure or falling is likely to deform and permanently change the tuning.

  3. If you play the drum often, it's a great idea to display this drum on a drum stand or put it on a shelf with a flat surface. Please store it indoors and keep it away from direct sunlight. If it is not used for a long time, we recommend putting it in the carry bag and keeping it in a cool, dry place.

  4. This drum is designed to play both inside and outside. The tuning might change a little under extreme weather change. But you don't need to worry; the tuning will go back to normal after a few hours once you get it indoors. Please wipe it completely dry (inside and outside) with a soft cloth if you play it in the rain or at the beach.

As with all acoustic instruments, the best way to maintain them is to play them regularly. The sound of this handpan will become more balanced and richer the more you play it
